I prepare elderberry syrup throughout the year. Our family takes it daily for an immune boost and will increase dosage to treat the first signs of an illness.
If I am out of harvested local herbs and berries, I purchase from links in the ingredients box. I have found Frontier Co-op products to be a good quality.
Benefits of Elderberry Syrup

Syrup Ingredients
elderberry, clove, fresh ginger root, ceylon cinnamon sticks, star anise, raw, local honey, purified water
Directions
Add ingredients, except honey, to a large pot with water. For a small batch, I use about 3/4 cup of dried berries to 3 cups of water. Add other ingredients as you wish. Bring to a boil and then cover and lower temperature to simmer for 40-45 minutes creating a concentrate.
Cool and drain the liquid through a sieve or cheese cloth. IT will be a beautiful deep purple. I use my grandmother's old grape and tomato sieve.

Add honey and stir to combine. If making enough to have one hand for later, add a little fresh lemon juice for ph levels. I store the syrup in glass canning jars.
It will keep in refrigerator for several months. Take 1 tsp to TSBP a day for maintenance and increase dosage every 3-4 hours if not feeling well.
